@olives@qoto.org Not sure proprietary is the issue. It's the accessibility to your own data that is. That's why I like Obsidian even though that's not exactly open source, but my data is fully accessible via whatever means.
@trinsec I think it's troublesome, because they draw people in with false promises (and even tap them for free labor), then they later renege on the deal.
@olives@qoto.org I've not read the actual article, I just used a generic example with Obsidian why I think this isn't always an issue. It does depend on the company and such, so yeah.
