@santisbon what happened with Content Nation was legitimately awful. The dev hangs out in our chat, and is one of the nicest people.
My perspective is that we need to have resources for developers who want to dive into this, so that they can avoid a situation blowing up simply due to not knowing what they didn’t know.
In spite of situations like this, I still whole-heartedly believe that building for the Fediverse / Social Web is worthwhile. Never before have we had such an incredible opportunity to change the face of the Web, to empower users, and to cut out big social companies than we do right now.
If you find yourself wanting to build, but worry about toxicity and backlash, let me just state: the loudest, most hostile people are by and large a vocal minority. There are so many amazing projects happening, and new ones start up every day. My recommendation is to find the builder spaces, ask lots of questions,
