Something to note about transported to another world titles is that they are often better fleshed out (i.e. world building) in the light novels.
It's the light novels which are the main product, not the #anime adaptations. The adaptations might be sped up or truncated.
I wanted to flag this as a phenomena which happens as when someone behaves in that particular exaggerated fashion, it's important to process this phenomena accordingly.
It reminds me a bit of that commentator who used to talk about how having sex with 15 or 16 year olds was okay, then he stopped doing that and shortly afterwards, he became "anti-anime" for a bit to virtue signal.
When someone is behaving in such an exaggerated fashion, it could be methinks the lady protest too much.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_lady_doth_protest_too_much,_methinks Isn't it ironic when someone complains about an #anime character supposedly looking "young", then it turns out they engage in something similar or worse? There were even outright criminals.
@olea@mstdn.social @trixter Basically, what happened was that the fediverse had been around since forever. The Mastodon guy showed up one day (I think in 2017), and he insisted that the network was this different thing and there were those who bought it.
It got particularly bad in 2022 when he marketed it as a solution to "Twitter" and people parachuted in insisting on what the network should be like. That is also probably why admins are in a permanent culture war with one another.
@olea@mstdn.social @trixter Sometimes, I wonder if Mastodon branding the network a "safe space" wasn't a mistake. People get these unrealistic expectations, encounter unpleasantness, and they don't know how to deal with it.
If folks want a safe space, maybe a dedicated social network would be better (with the understanding they could go elsewhere for spicier discourse).
@olea@mstdn.social @trixter Again... Look at their profile. Strawmanning, bait, abusive response. It's a troll instance. Avoid replying. Replying is what trolls want.
When it comes to algorithms, there are bigger fish to fry, such as use in war, use in the criminal justice system, and so on. This is a distraction.
I don't get why someone would give Character AI such a hard time. It's literally just a site for playing with silly chatbots. #FreeSpeech
Someone might come up with something like "just find an instance with a high standard of free expression, maybe for say roleplay", however, that is easier said than done for a newbie.
You kind of already have to know the unspoken rules and where that might be. #FreeSpeech
