To this date, I was unaware of the many emojis offered on #Mastodon servers. Shame on me, as it might be a real instance selection criterion. Find out what any instance supports here: https://emojos.in/

@trinsec https://qoto.org/@olives/110964703864839078 Digging deep, lol.
@olives Things to read, things to watch, and things to play!
Aaaaaargh! IT NEVER STOPS GROWING!
Social networks like Twitter had (I'm not commenting on X) something like that where someone would find these really super random posts from a year ago and they'd comment on them.
Umineko no naku koro ni / When the seagulls cry. Murder mystery on an island.
There is an #anime, but it is incomplete (the second half and some details are missing). To see the whole story you would have to watch / play the visual novel.
Black God / Kurokami / 黒神. Even though there is an #anime of it, and a manga was published in Japan, it was actually created by a Korean. Surprising, huh?
It's a strange story about people with superpowers, fights, and doppelgangers.
The 黒 means black (kuro /くろ).
The 神 means god (kami / かみ).
Looking at the code of one fediverse implementation, I find it funny how there is a flag on a user for whether they are "deleted", when that is very much not what deleted means (unless, it's there for tombstoning*).

Tombstoning is where you have an "empty record" which exists for the purpose of propagating the delete across a distributed system.
Lol, I was actually surprised I didn't get one voting for "No" sooner.
While I can see the appeal in full free speech (and that's pertinent when dealing with the government), I can also kind of see the appeal in aiming for less meanness (and leaving free expression otherwise intact).
@billyjoebowers refreshed (cmd-R) the browser window and yep, now I see it.
The other solution wasn't perfect, but this seems worse. It fails basic accessibility guidelines for providing enough contrast between text and background (at least in how my browser is showing them)
For those interested, I posted nearly the same thread/question on meal prep hacks when it's hot/smoky outside on Mastodon and on BlueSky.
Mastodon: I got multiple favorites and four different hack ideas/shared experiences.
BlueSky: *crickets*
Granted, I've been on Mastodon quite a bit longer, but still, it's rather telling.
I'm not really sure how to solve that first one, although it could probably be improved.
The only thing I can think of is maybe to get the client to send a request to the original server (or a mirror?) for the content, if the profile is stale / incomplete (how to check this?).
I don't think that one is a good idea though.
The first one probably comes down to lazy federation. This shouldn't be confused with a lazy developer, that is a different concept.
The second one might be something being unreachable for a while...? I dunno.
I saw a few people on the fedi confusing federation bugs for user behavior.
One thought there were lots of users with empty profiles who go around posting on things and they were mad about them. In reality, you can guess.
Another was confused about someone who keeps following and unfollowing and following and got mad at them.
Maybe, this could be communicated better...? Or better yet, fix the bugs, lol.
