In 2000, Mattel sued MCA, the recording company of the band Aqua, over the song ‘Barbie Girl’ and the use of a shade of pink, trademarked by Mattel. MCA sued Mattel for calling them a ‘bank robber’.

The judge dismissed both cases concluding, ‘The parties are advised to chill’.
