So it's Godzilla Minus One "enjoyable" good or is it "accurately portrays the depth of human depravity and suffering" good? Because after 3 Body Problem and Furiosa, we're looking for something less grim.

@peterdrake I’d very much say the latter; the subject matter is kinda grim.

@peterdrake it's about human trauma, I'd say. Not super dark, not not light.

@peterdrake Enjoyable good, but does depict a certain amount of general human suffering after the end of WWII in a bombed out Japanese city. Well, and Godzilla is doing Godzilla things.

@tsturm @peterdrake

Especially since some have opined that the devastation created by Godzilla is an allegory for the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombing.

@peterdrake

Definitely the former with some of the latter. I found it pretty intense but also optimistic.

@peterdrake I would say much closer to the former. The saddest parts are sad because of human goodness. I did not feel sad after it was done. More would be a spoiler - I recommend it highly.

@peterdrake the tragedy of surviving was intense and felt accurate. Watching Godzilla throw a boat was also quite enjoyable
