This reply was my best post all year. Only one like. Pearls before swine, I tell you https://mastodon.social/@glyph/112927825871398444
@quentinpradet @glyph They are references to Lord of the Rings, specifically the extra meals eaten by Hobbits: https://youtube.com/watch?v=dLXeL4HbPr4
@pganssle @quentinpradet I do not think it was actually my best post. Just slightly clever and apparently obscure enough that not many people appreciated it, despite the very high popularity of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Lord of the Rings movies :-)
@pganssle @quentinpradet sorry, this was sarcasm, the post was a slightly obscure reference to some rules in Dungeons and Dragons. At the beginning of an encounter, everyone rolls dice for an “initiative” number which determines turn order, which puts them on a “ladder”. Each participant has a number of resources they can spend within their own turn (action points). A “cunning action” is an additional action that rogues can take each turn, analogous to the extra meal of “elevenses” in that clip.
