OMG the wikipedia explainer on sealioning is a giant steaming bucket of pure refined cringe.
@atomic Wikipedia is at its worst when it's self-nominated people explaining "soft" or perception-based phenomena; particularly fashionable or ephemeral ones.
Sealioning is just pestering someone to engage you about something they said, esp. after they've indicated they're not interested in doing so. It's no more complicated than that.
The hordes of people continually saying to Congresswoman. Ocasio-Cortez "why won't you debate [me/some far-right hero/newsmax personality/etc]?" over and over again are classic sea lions. "Er, because it's a waste of time for me and serves only to promote you?"

yeah, I just read it. Not sure why this needs a specific term. Just sounds like a type of gaslighting to me.
