I wish I could find a straightforward #selfhost alternative that didn't require 30 wodges of #Docker #bloatware and more free time than it takes to earn a doctorate from Carnegie-Mellon.
I'm using #TiddlyWiki with #WebDAV, plus the venerable old #Webnote for lightweight things, and I'm probably going to have to settle for that because I agreed to cook dinner at least four nights a week.
@pieist @mjausson @ct_bergstrom I moved all my data from Evernote over to #Obsidian back in March. It is good enough for what I need.
@danyork @pieist @mjausson @ct_bergstrom seconding Obsidian. Pretty good cross platform integration, future proof format, active community, and you can automate stuff like pulling metadata from Zotero. I've used it for 2 years and I'm quite happy with it.
Joplin is also good, but Obsidian feels way more customizable.
@danyork @pieist @mjausson @ct_bergstrom Obsidian is so nice! We have switched to Obsidian for our project wiki, version controlled via Git. Works a charm.
@mario_angst_sci @danyork @pieist @mjausson @ct_bergstrom I'm all for not *needing* any one app for working with Markdown files, and have structured my notes accordingly, but #Obsidian has been my app / interface of choice for over 3 years now. Love it to bits, and I (intentionally) only use a fraction of its capabilities!
@pieist @mjausson @ct_bergstrom @joplinapp If all you want is WebDAV, I maintain a server that runs with Node.js, so it’s quite easy to set up. https://www.npmjs.com/package/nephele-serve

My rule of thumb: If PHP and MySQL are involved the authors are either under 12 or over 90 and you're in for a rough ride.
