#Germany Minister of Defence Pistorius comments on the #Russian leaked Bundeswehr conference call:

Confirmed the use of Webex, but this is a hardened version of the Bundeswehr, which is self-hosted on Bundeswehr servers. According to the current state of knowledge, a participant in Singapore logged into the conference call via the hotel using an insecure data line (mobile phone / WLAN), whereupon Russia intercepted the conversation. He spoke of targeted and widespread wiretapping by Russia in the hotels used by international high-ranking military personnel, which were present at the “Singapore Airshow”. Investigations are ongoing, but unless anything else comes to light (more violations etc.), he will not “sacrifice any of his best military officers to Putin’s games”.

It doesn't matter how secure or hardened the server is, if participants can access it without using end-to-end encryption, which from this description of the vulnerability must have been the case. That's ridiculously insecure and if true there's no reasonable excuse for it: end-to-end encryption is built into every web browser and server, and has been for decades.
