I think the evaluative second form is a hint that the person cares more about the status, credence, credibility that [object] gives them, and what others will think, than about their own enjoyment of [object] which they could simply express in the first subjective form.
which is sad. I know it is a figure of speech, but the whole social status thing is a wanton joy killer nobody talks about.
