The non-profit organization where Wallander worked, The U.S.-Russia Foundation, was headquartered in Moscow until 2015.
Its main goal was to promote investment in Russia. The foundation specialized in "mid-market venture capital and equity investments in middle-market companies" with a focus on "media, retail, consumer goods, financial services, information technology, and telecommunications."
I don't know if I should comment on this at all. I think it is obvious to many that it is all about money.
