@robryk @VeryBadLlama and the Hungarian riff on that theme, "God please give us a victory for once, we have already had enough defeats to pay in advance for all possible future sins"

Remarkable analysis of what ChatGPT "knows" that ain't so. Spoiler: it "believes" some urban myths, but the median highly educated person believes a lot more.

@barrygoldman1 @VinceVatter on closer inspection i am somewhat concerned with the argument in Section 4.2 of the paper and am withdrawing my previous boost of this result.

Someone I admire will occasionally say of a person that they "have a difficult user interface". I like it, because it's a humorous (and helpful) way of saying "this person is prickly / difficult". And he's good at being patient with such people, in both personal and professional capacities.

I have, I think, gradually become less patient with people who I find to have a difficult UI. Not wild about that. Not entirely sure what to do about it, either!

Granted that not all projects in the queue will be built, but is becoming increasingly clear that the biggest barrier to electricity decarbonization today is not the cost of clean energy, but rather our ability to build the transmission to accommodate it.

Holy wow! This new infrared image of Jupiter’s moon Io from the Juno spacecraft shows volcanoes, lava flows and lava lakes glowing with heat radiation!

#renewable electricity is now cheaper than fossil or nuclear, and there’s enough of a queue of projects to significantly reduce #CO2 in the US. But insufficient #transmission will block these projects, both large renewables interstate lines planned by #RTO under #FERC rules (my recent post) and mid-size renewables needing within-state lines approved by state utility commissions, per linked article. We need to focus on transmission! nyti.ms/3HHCXqk

New data here. The upshot:

• Bivalent COVID vaccines are _good_

• They’ll do a much better job of keeping you out of the hospital

• For people of all ages

• Including against newest COVID variants (BQ etc)

• If your last COVID shot was <Sep (adults) or <Oct (kids), get a new shot _immediately_

• If your country doesn’t have them yet, bring the torches & pitchforks to your gov’s health admins
