Confidence can be the difference between aiming for better than your best and trying just not to replicate your worst.

When I’m working toward a goal and it starts to feel difficult, I can choose to view that as a sign of my weakness or I can choose to view it as a sign of how much I’m growing. And, it’s a great reminder that realizing that growth also requires intentional rest.

Experiencing failure in research does not mean that you are a failure.

Experiencing failure often means that you are trying something that has not been tried before, and that makes you a researcher.

One of the most powerful things you can do to support mental health in your workplace is to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can feel a sense of belonging and acts of kindness are the norm.

In academia, no matter how much you work, there will always be more that you can do:
-another paper to read
-more edits to the manuscript
-a new committee to serve on

The key is to recognize that NOBODY can do all they want to. Do what you can and know you're doing your best - Prof. Jen!
