Nice idea, hopefully you can open an instance and block all the other ones, then maybe decide to add some specific ones with very strict rules to the federation.
I'm not sure how it would work with the 13 years thing; a lot of commercial social networks cannot be used by children, I'm not sure if that's something specific to their policy or if it is a law requirement.
Also, you would need very strong moderation in such an instance, in order to protect the children.
You might allow the parents to register with an account that is not allowed to toot or interact, but that they can use to monitor what's going on and report to the moderators.
@rastinza meh, i just wanted something to recommend she sign up for that would be e primarily geared toward that, as opposed to free software, or politics, or religion, etc. Eventually everything can get federated and I'm fine with that. I trust my daughters to make the right decisions and ask their parents whenever anything is weird. Authoritarian parenting/moderation would not align with my family's values.
