There's one company who claims to produce fuel from waste, looks quite cool and it appears they're actually producing small hydrocarbons rather than stuff such as methanol.
But how does it work? I cannot find information about this process easily.
Do you know what they could be doing, at what scale it can be applied and if it could actually be profitable?

Hard to tell, they don't even say what kind of waste.
Anyway, if it is biological waste it probably involves patented bacteria, if it isn't there could be different methods.
