I can imagine plenty legitimate reasons to share a link to tiktok.
Copy the video and post it here might not be nice, specially if it is private or contains confidential information. I'm not sure you'd be confirming with the policies of tiktok by copying the video and most likely you'd be breaking some copyright or privacy policy.
@rastinza I am concerned about you posting when you didn’t understand the context of my post. Or the relevant laws and regulations. It’s hugely intimidating in the USA to invoke copyright. And doing so when it’s 100% irrelevant feels like you are weaponizing content. Also - there’s extensive history of China gathering data on ordinary US citizens. For what exactly we don’t know yet. But some of us are wary. Really best to never click a tiktok link.

I would not like people copying stuff I'm posting on Mastodon and putting it on other social networks, this is generally considered a bad practice and somewhat disrespectful. I don't see why you'd endorse doing it on another social network. I have no idea about the US, I'm most certain doing this in the EU would break some rules, even though I doubt police would act on it.
If you don't want to open tiktok you're free to do it, and you're free to block people sharing tiktok links so that you're sure you won't open it by mistake. But I see plenty plausible reasons to share such links and I don't think copying the video to be a better solution.

@rastinza you can download most TikTok videos and share them. Some have the feature disabled. They are watermarked with TikTok and the creator’s handle. They are public. There’s no expectation of privacy for a video you post on tiktok. The opposite in fact. People want as much spread as possible. I’m not interested in further explaining the basics of problematic social media. TikTok is hugely problematic. Anyway… I’m just blocking.
