Seems similar, yes, but simpler. And it makes delicious coffee.
@rastinza There are definitely some similar properties at play! I think the main difference is that the siphon filters when the water goes back down and the brewing occurs up top.

It's a siphon. The brewing mechanism is a bit different. There's no restriction on flow up to the upper chamber. The filtering happens when the low pressure pushes the coffee back through the grinds into the lower chamber again.
