@a Gab needs a new user landing page to help people find people on here

It’s so much easier to enjoy the site once you follow some people, and I feel like this would be easy to do (just a static page link would work)

@haxonek seriously, finding people to find that weren't either racists/nazis/alt-right and that also weren't MAGAtards (not opposed to Trump supporters, but tired of spam about Democrat "sedition" in my feed) was such a pain in the ass.

It was only after I had been on here a while that I learned about the Fediverse, and now I'm considering switching instances. Gab was supposed to be about Free Speech, but with the porn ban I fear it's going to eventually turn into the kind of site that you would expect to be run by a devout Christian.

@dsteele713 Eh I'm not super opposed to the porn ban. I think the issue here is free speech attracts a certain demographic, and that demographic isn't always fun to hang around with. The porn ban may have been forward thinking imo, since it stops gab from becoming an alt-right porn server which would have made it completely intolerable.

I do really like the fediverse too though, there are lots of interesting people. @pasture and @realcaseyrollins are good people to follow imo

@haxonek @pasture @realcaseyrollins Props for disagreeing respectfully. Earlier today I got called a Jewish pawn for believing theocracy and ethno-nationalism are right-wing political ideologies, and that's not the first time I've had that kind of interaction on Gab.

I should mention that one of the things that pissed me off about Twitter was Sargon getting banned for spamming interracial gay porn at white nationalists that were harassing him, which is especially infuriating because Twitter allows porn.

I took it for granted that a free speech site would see the value in that kind of expression, which is why I find the ban disappointing. Yes, I can see not wanting it to become a porn site, but even before the ban it certainly didn't feel like one.

@dsteele713 Haha I don't understand people who think calling someone jewish is even an insult, Gab does sort of have a problem with that stuff. Sargon's ban was really stupid, same with Milo. Like if someone's a raving antisemite or endorsing violence I can understand why they're banned, but so many of twitter bans is just banning people the twitter majority doesn't like.

I should also say I agree that porn wasn't a problem on this site yet, I just don't mind it because now I don't have to worry about it taking over gab like it has other instances.

I like the porn ban as a policy, but the way Torba was going about demonizing Coomers in a (seemingly) hateful way really turned me off to him. Gabbers are cool, but I don't trust Torba as an admin.

(That and, IMHO, the software sucks. 😝)
