Fediverse posts are chronological, but I think people do prefer algorithms. One solution is a pluggable algorithm system where you can go into your profile and choose your algorithm from a dropdown, or perhaps even code your own and upload it to your profile. All open source, of course.

@alex I'm so glad somebody else likes algorithms! I've been wanting a "Smart Lists" feature for awhile, where you can either use different metrics to rank content in the feed (say, sorting by likes + replies), or just filter your main feed.
(And of course, one can add time sensitive "posted in the last 48 hours" or something, too.)
Just so long as the users can change the algorithms! Otherwise this will just recreate #Twitter's algorithms (as far as principle goes), and we'll get the same complaints.
