It seems Nintendo liked the whole crafting thing they did with Breath of the Wild and decided to incorporate it here. BotW is the most Animal Crossing-like Zelda I've ever played, so I guess that makes sense. Fundamentally BotW is a game about resources, so I imagine the new Animal Crossing will be similar.
The thing I found really appealing about BotW is that you I often had just barely enough resources to get by. The game doesn't just throw resources at you, it really does force you to conserve. As a result, a large part of the game is about managing your resources. You need enough resources to progress, and if you spend them unwisely you'll have to struggle even harder. This reflects real life challenges and could possibly even be a teaching moment for younger players. The game manages to keep the experience fun because of all the stuff you do with your resources (combat, adventuring, etc). It serves as a nice reward for using your resources wisely.
@realcaseyrollins Do you have a Switch?
@alex Nope. I'm not a Nintendo fan, so there's not much that the Switch has to offer for me, esp. since I don't play Fortnite anymore. I doubt games that run on Switch run better than their PC or Xbox/PS4 counterparts anyways.
@alex I don't play much, but I like AssaultCube and Tesseract.
I used to play Minetest, but I haven't picked it up in awhile.
@realcaseyrollins That's awesome! As far as open source games, I really like Pink Pony for a great multiplayer experience even your drunk friends or your grandma can play.
I'm also working on a game called Vegan on a Desert Island: https://voadi.com/
