Will 2020 be the year the #fediverse finally gets a Groups feature on most platforms?

It'd be a huge feature advantage over platforms like Twitter.

@realcaseyrollins @sean #Lemmy has groups support since the beginning, and they're slowly starting to federate

@pioneer @realcaseyrollins @sean Not sure how I missed this lol but no, not at present. Maybe @alex would be open to adding them back? But I'm sure there's a reason he removed that feature

@realcaseyrollins @pioneer @realcaseyrollins @sean The legacy Mastodon+Soapbox could have supported Gab's half-baked groups, which were nothing more than non-federating glorified hashtags, but the new Pleroma+Soapbox will work towards having first class federated groups. This time I'm more confident because Lain actually wants to implement them into Pleroma itself.
@realcaseyrollins @sean Also #friendica and #hubzilla support groups, although I don't know if they can interface with eachother.

@loziniak @realcaseyrollins @sean the two social networks certainly do interact and can follow and respond from either one
