I find the idea of content warnings fascinating

On the one hand, you could argue that it's just being polite, which is a very reasonable way to structure the idea

On the other, the evidence I've seen for the key purported purpose of CWs - that they actively prevent harm for people with mental health issues - seems either lacking or mixed

So providing a CW for something is low effort, and not too hard for anyone to do. That being said, I'm interested in whether the main reason for CWs existing has any real evidence behind it or whether it's more a social norm that people are keen to adopt because it seems like the polite thing to do.
