May I pick the fedibrain?

I've just realised that all my permanent server workload in the house is done by SBCs (RasPi, ODroid, Pine64 etc).

So, I'd like to consolidate that into a rack/power setup aimed at small systems. Something that can take a variety of different boards. For power I could use a large powered hub, but built into the rack would be good if it exists.

Recommendations?

#sbc #raspberryPi #rack #sysadmin

Thanks for the replies! I should clarify:

1) not building a cluster - each device has a separate purpose (Pihole, OpenHab, etc). I have a basic GigE switch handy for networking already
2) not buying new devices just now - although I appreciate the recommendations there ;)

This is *just* about racking up what I've got neatly, and not using a billion phone chargers and old PSUs for power. If I get it down to 1-2 plugs I can run it via the UPS... ;)

Keep 'em coming though!

@gwmngilfen I’ve used poe adaptors and a poe switch which has the advantage of allowing remote restarting.

@realmattseymour that's good for the RasPi 3 B+ which has poet, need to check if my other devices support it. Guess I should check the going rate for switches too...

@gwmngilfen you can get poe breakout adaptors to provide 5v usb. But it’s going to cost much more if it’s a marginal benefit.

@realmattseymour marginal is the word, yeah. The techie in me loves the idea of getting poe switches - the 'me' with the budget points out I already *have* a switch... :)
