needs to be at the center of the work of science centers and museums, both at their physical location as well as in their digital engagement. I'm so excited to share the Digital Accessibility Toolkit @MerylEvans and I helped the Association of Science and Technology Centers create!

And the resources and information in this toolkit are valuable well beyond the science museum world, especially for , , and others who focus on .

Adding to my list of people who are great at creating descripptions for their images, you'll find that @kellylepo pposts fantastic #astronomy pictures along with context and #AltText. It's always good to examine #photos closely. Detailed descriptions should let you do it too.

I do like it here on Mastodon, but the huge influx of people from Twitter means there are far fewer image descriptions than from even a couple of weeks ago. I’d love to tell every one of them about this, but quite frankly there are so many I don’t have the patience. I’d dearly love it if apps could block posts unless an image description was added to every photo, but I suppose that’s too much to hope for. I’m feeling really excluded from so many conversations. It’s getting as bad as Twitter.

When I first spent more time here I was so happy to see almost every photo had Alt Text and I very quickly learned how easy it was to add to my posted photos. Now I'm a bit sad that I see so many gorgeous photos without Alt-Text ( which I choose not to boost ) 😩

Step it up #Photography you can be better.

Pals, I see a lot of people copy-pastaed their Twitter bio here - you can have longer and even formatted bios here, and remove all the kludges you did to make them fit on birdsite if you so desire! Remember, hastags of interests, groups, and topics help people find you. :a_trusted_friend:

There are also custom emoji on your server (they vary) that you can utilize! (Here's a lookup to check a server's emojos.in/).
