@konstantkaos gorgeous. Begging for a scratch
@MPI_Meteo thank you for posting this, I enjoyed sharing it to colleagues and our school science club
@tildalwave @nixCraft interesting that the AI pegged its answer to open source, the elephant in the room.
@vanbadham fascinating, it makes me wonder if there is now grounds for compensating neighbours for new buildings that cast an overwhelming shadow?
On the other hand, the obligation to collect and sharing renewable energy to all, may become a civic duty. I would rather donate my surplus electricity to those in need, than exchange for peanuts with a large energy corporation.
Interesting video about measurement by @veritasium and at the one minute mark, Derek Muller discovers an astonishing snippet of trivia about the USA. Crikey! #ozscied https://youtu.be/pXoZQsZP2PY
@spinal in my dreams of an apocalypse, there is always an upturned shopping trolley with a creaky wheel, slowly turning in the wind.
@spinal true, it feels like a decade ago when I could walk online without fear, playfully splash in ponds and jump puddles for fun.
@spinal @vanbadham hmm, there is an Australian manufacturer of solar panels, located in South Australia? I’ll admit a fine set, sits upon my roof ☀️🏠🧐 https://www.tindosolar.com.au/
@vanbadham I wonder what the Auditor General would say about this profiteering.
@vanbadham The interesting thought, is not just the focus on high-density metro rail, but that we should also be upgrading or building high-speed rural rail networks that (eventually) connect up. To do that requires a good measure of vision and funding for long-term national planning.
It's no longer: "There are two types of organisations: those who have been breached and those who have not"
It is now: "There are two types of organisations: those who have been breached and those who don't know they have" #cybersecurity
50 years ago the famous #NASA #BlueMarble photo was taken and changed our perspective on Earth. We ourselves were able to simulate the fully coupled #climate system at the scale of a km in October this year. Now, together with the German Climate Computing Center #DKRZ and NVIDIA #NVIDIAOmniverse, we simulated the iconic photo to celebrate this achievement.
Find the #visualization video, detailed information on the simulation, and the model on our website: https://mpimet.mpg.de/en/communication/news/single-news/page?tx_news_pi1%5Bnews%5D=1648&cHash=f051b796251535976ab2ea96d7fb3be9
@rbanffy Bravo to the EU for raising the bar for Apple. Good to see now if others follow suit.
@skanman I just updated my twitter name to include my mastodon handle .. noticed others doing this too
When we examine the Lunar Rover expeditions upon the Moon during the @NASA Apollo missions, the underlying maths behind the safety planning is fascinating to reflect upon. #spacescience

If you think supporting Ukraine is a sacrifice, they are giving far more in blood. If you think it is expensive, not stopping Putin now will lead to a far more costly conflict when he is ready again. Dictators do not stop until they are stopped. Learn this, finally.

As #Artemis1 Orion capsule returns from the Moon for splashdown on 11 Dec, it's nice to hear somebody in the International Space Station read out a children's book. “Goodnight Kittens and goodnight mittens” https://aspiechattr.me/@NASA/109463503818047167
@vanbadham Gotta love the frogs but of course, all these natural predators can play a part.
@skanman it’s worth developing a love for writing. Also good to follow @thesiswhisperer for ideas, blog posts and books.
