@hopit bay area was a big center for lindy hop in the late 90s and a long time after. It was also really popular among Stanford undergrads.

@evan The queue item is the request, not a batch of tweets (subset) from the request. A worker will complete a user's archive before moving on to the next.
@evan @debirdify The system that does the backups is distinct from the servers handling normal user traffic. If you want your archive get it while you can.

The new "bluechecks will fix everything" system over on the other site seems to have, maybe, a few bugs that a competent trust & safety team might have been useful in working through...

I'm a software developer currently at #lyft, formerly at #twitter, #salesforce, and #nuance.
Met my wife in the #lindyhop scene, and we have 2 kids, living in #seattle.
Because it's generally interesting to folks right now, in the midst of the #TwitterMigration I'll also say I was on the API and TFE teams for 2.5 years 2012-2015. My biggest contributions were probably in the realm of killing the monorail, and slaying tech debt has more or less defined my career.

@rjohnsonmn @ifilljustice My husband and I (in CA) like to sit down together with the voter guide and discuss the options. Sometimes one or the other of us knows the local candidates, we also google information on the initiatives and for the first time we looked up the background information on judges. This is one reason I love mail in ballots. We are able to take our time and do the research together.
@bhp I've been listening for years, and now I'm relistening with my kids (10 and 12) who are hooked. They're still in Roman times.

@aallan There's lots of ways for microservice architectures to take on debt. I've heard of several where it's the opposite. They have 3x as many services as engineers, and aren't investing in making service ownership mostly automated.
@ndaught@mastodon.social me too, but I expect that a lot of my carefully curated follows are having a much worse experience than I am and will start loving off.
