Referendums should need more than a simple majority to pass, if 49.9% of people are opposed to something it's a recipe for an unhappy population, 75% would be a better pass mark.

@anon_opin Or just don't do referendums at all. If 74% of people vote for something that doesn't happen you'll still end up with an unhappy population. Representative democracy keeps politics out of most people's lives most of the time, and that's a good thing
