There should be a £50 tax on every bet placed and a 25% tax in any winnings. We need the tax revenue and no-one's going to complain about getting it from gambling. Well, betting shops will. But no-one likes them, so it's fine.
But just the same as if it is added on top of other licensing fees, it would be a basic brawl of lobbying to achieve it anyway
And then it just turns into a public relations pitch, and more politics. Which is why, right now there are clubs and casinos proudly stating how big their annual donations to local communities and charities are.
But they don’t mention that it’s 2% of gambling revenue. Same reason.
