Truly tired of all these awful cults with their idiotic man children leaders who get so much of the benefit of doubt, like this dude right here. Not to mention the horrible misogyny & eugenics streaks of these cults. This one is founder of the rationality cult, which intersects very heavily with the effective altruism and longtermist cults.

@timnitGebru This guy doesn't seem to have any visible industry experience? That I could find on his wikipedia page? And no LinkedIn profile? Anyway, a bit dubious with all these people (the only non-dubious thing is that they've never seen a system that had to serve 100M users.

@galinash @timnitGebru not suggesting that the tweet wasn’t a bit of a hot take, but be careful of assuming someone has no industry experience by looking at their LinkedIn profile.
I used to have a LinkedIn profile which showed my 2 decades plus years of experience but removed it completely.

@mitchdenny @timnitGebru I am with you on that, but it's odd that his Wikipedia page with quite a bit of other information, never managed to cough that up, and it does note that he's an autodidact and never attended high school or college, which also makes it quite likely he doesn't have industry experience (it's unusual to get hired for a tech job without at least a college degree).

While this might be correct inference, using such an inference reinforces it in the world. I'm not sure what to do about it in general other than be aware of it, and of how one uses the result :/
