Something I find mildly interesting is how video games seem to have gotten a lot slower paced over time.

Just for example, if you look at FPS games, movement speed and damage output : health ratio are both way down, with "realistic" shooters being an exception on damage, but those also have relatively glacial movement speeds.

And for both "realistic" and cartoon-y shooters, popular game modes are slower paced and have more downtime than the default multiplayer game modes for early shooters.

Do you mean linear movement speed, rotational movement speed, or both?
