I think https://void.rehab/notes/9ndzk51ttlu6oovn is fascinating because it's both obviously a really bad idea, and something Fedi has no immune system against.
I get the feeling that Fedi hasn't had to face anyone bright and malicious. Despite some crypto, rate-limiting etc. we're still probably at pre-Morris-worm levels of naïvety.
@robryk On the whole, I'm not so worried by that.
It seems to me that gaslighting-style stuff matters more when there's trust to be eroded - and that takes time to build up and goes very quickly as soon as anyone is caught doing it. It's a bit like a crypto coin rug pull, and thus has a rate limit.
OTOH, DoS, spam, disinformation campaigns etc. can just make the platform unusable, or at least push people to "allow list only" isolation.
