standard UK pol grumble:
- Most people in the UK understand FPTP and thus vote tactically.
- Most UK parties know where they might win and focus on winning there.
- In FTTP, there is no prize for 2nd place, nor no extra prize for doing wildly well.
- Not every party runs everywhere for a long list of reasons.
So, any time someone says "vote share" you can ignore them or mock them. If "vote share" mattered people would vote differently.

@psn

Does this mean that constituencies where the result is closer have higher turnout?

@robryk I was going to say that mastodonapp.uk/@ukelections/11 has some data - closely fought seats have higher turnout. Hiowever, it points out that the drop in turnout is primarily tory voters. Perhaps this is some "get the gits out" voting.
