I know a lot of people like to use the term "guys" as a "gender-neutral" way to address a group of people.

In this essay, I will contend that it is in fact not gender-neutral at all.

For this experiment, we selected three heterosexual cisgender men, and asked them all the same question:

"How many guys have you slept with lately?"

All three agreed that guys clearly means men here, and denied any involvement.

So maybe it's not as gender-neutral as you thought?

Have you maybe tried the same with "fellows"? I'm somewhat unsure of how people perceive it.
