You know that annoying thing where a 1.25x (+25%) improvement in throughput (work per time) is the same as a 0.80x (-20%) reduction in time for the same amount of work?

Easy fix: just start giving ratios in decibels!

Now your 2x speed-up is a +3dB speed-up is a -3dB reduction in completion time!

(I'm not serious about this. But I'm also not not serious about this.)
