I’m completely f*cked off with Littlest’s school. No biros allowed; hand writing pens (but only for best and they leak if you shake them) and only 3 pencil sharpeners for the whole class. And the whiteboard pens are running out.

I’ve bought 24 pencil sharpeners; 36 whiteboard pens and, crucially, 50 biros.

I see no reason not to use biro. The kids hate pencils. And they didn’t want them to have erasers, so it’s not about fixing mistakes.

I am annoyed. And I’m going to be awkward.

@CurlyParakeet Why, though! What lesson is there in it? What point are they trying to make by banning ballpoint pens?

Iirc when I was in primary school we were supposed to write with fountain pens and iirc the reasoning was that this forces you to hold them in a smaller range of positions from the very beginning (as in, gives you feedback of the "won't write" kind if you keep them too perpendicular to the paper).
