I don't get why reversing wasn't an option (if the other bascule was also moving, they'd be just as like to slide down that one; the description doesn't specify whether that was the case).

@robryk @vfrmedia Yeah, I'm confused about why this was the right move. Seems riskier to jump than to stay... unless he had too much momentum for braking in time?
