@mpjgregoire@mamot.fr I’d agree regarding the publicity the threat receives, but there are still key flashpoints, even post the collapse of the USSR.

National leaders have undermined several arms control initiatives. Political conflicts regarding nuclear programs in Iran and North Korea also remain unresolved.

Although public awareness of climate change has grown exponentially, few globally organised initiatives have resulted and in some cases, national leaders are rolling back previous commitments.

Finally, the information ecosphere is being corrupted by hackers, fake news and the propensity for social media algorithms to propagate misinformation and create echo chambers. Which undercuts societies ability to respond effectively.

All in all, it pushes the world toward midnight in a way previous socio-political climates haven’t.
