Advertising in stuff I've already paid for really pisses me off. Actually, my whole tolerance for advertising *anywhere* in my life has basically diminished to zero since lockdown began.

@dajbelshaw

Everytime I open my phone it wastes my battery by showing me a promotional animation... of the company that made the phone I HAVE EARLY BOUGHT.

@LeoSammallahti Glad you're on the same page, as usually when I raise this kind of stuff with people they roll their eyes and don't understand my 'complaining' 🙄

@dajbelshaw @LeoSammallahti whenever I use someone else's computer without a browser adblocker installed I install one! Can't bear to see so many ads.

@jdaviescoates @dajbelshaw @LeoSammallahti

Amen to that!

It drives me to a frothing frenzy. Doubly so when I have paid for / am subscribing to the product or service.

I think the worst of it is the internet makes showing ‘impressive’ metrics to the board so easy. ‘We saw a 17% increase last month in engagement thanks to our new ultra-invasive click-bait campaign,’ says one arse of a marketing executive. Suddenly everyone is pushing adverts in a desperate bid to make their futile KPIs.

Argh!

@rw @dajbelshaw @LeoSammallahti the one that gets me at the moment aren't even technically ads: all BBC trailers for other BBC shows on iPlayer before the show you want to watch (or more usually, that your little one is pestering you for) actually starts. Annoying!
