It’s nice to be able to post using markdown - it will also make posting code more natural

print("Hello, Mastodon!")

Although I’ve noticed that on the iOS app I’m using (the official one), markdown is not rendered. It is on the web platform.

Not sure about other apps…

PS: I believe this is not a feature on all servers…

@s_gruppetta Markdown is not a default Mastodon feature. Qoto has it, and the servers running the Mastodon Glitch Edition also knows markdown. Not sure about others.

Apps are usually made for default Mastodon… so I think most apps probably won’t support it. Personally I prefer the mobile web interface, it’s very mobile friendly.

@trinsec so does that mean that only QOTO members are likely to see the markdown, and everyone else just sees the plain text?

@s_gruppetta Everybody else without markdown support will see some of the markdown adornments, which makes it still readable and still conveys the intent. And we see it in its pretty format here.

I know bold and italics will be shown with those asterisks around. Not sure about the rest.

Pleroma, Misskey, Mastodon Glitch, all microblogging servers which should be able to see markdown. There’s more than just Mastodon. :)
