one thing about Twitter versus Mastodon is the algorithm on Twitter was actually pretty good. I havent used it much since Musk took over and even less since they made you log in to see anything.
on Mastodon tags are really important though.
I'm not sure either scenario is better but it is an important distinction for new users to know. of course I tried not to get involved in political stuff on twitter but I also do that to a large extent here filtering out some terms.
@musicman huh, i rarely use or look at hashtags on mastodon. maybe i should. feels weird though. and time-consuming.
@sabbatical you don't need to look at them. they just show up in your feed once you subscribe
