If everyone in #GNULinux and #FOSS was an unencumbered #whiteHat, #Microsoft wouldn't have existed beyond 2017, possibly sooner.

It's clear that #blackHats exist in the #freedomSoftware space.

How can we expect blackHats to gain knowledge on whiteHats and to inhibit them? Universities? MSGitHub? #LinkedIn? CloudFlare'd services?

Our thinking is 'all of the above', but the most effective tools hide in plain sight — #MSLinkedIn and #MSGitHub.

Use them at your eventual peril.

Its quite likely that #metadata-collecting services like #Signal and #Telegram, are an aid to the blackHat.

There is a quote by a US operative, "We kill based on metadata." Such a mantra is easily transferrable to blackHats operating in the freedomSoftware space.

There a many grifters in the tech space and they want to preserve their unjustified (median) income of 300K per annum.

Metadata on Signal is encrypted. In many cases better than the trust required in federated systems unless you run your own server, which is not accessible for most users.

Signal strives to be the best trade-off of privacy and wide usability and they're doing a damn good job of it imo.

It requires a phone number. That is the metadata we are talking about.

Putting aside that its not a reproducible build and the network infrastructue is closed, we can safely say its leaking Metadata.

Another big problem with Signal is its not a reproducible build either — nor FOSS.

To be honest, I2P allows running #XMPP node so easily, even an Australian can do it.
