@sovtechfund (funded by the German government) just announced a €1M grant towards the @gnome project, an open source desktop environment.

Imagine a world in which governments don't spend billions of dollars in licensing fees every year to make Microsoft richer, and that money instead goes towards _public code_ that belongs to all of us.

That may seem utterly implausible - but every example like this brings us one step closer to it being inevitable and irreversible.

Mastodon started off being *much* worse than twitter for me (at first I got a LOT of unsolicited advice that was not helpful to me). It's gotten way better and I really like it here now, but I think it could be even better

Wow, oh, wow, was für ein grauenhafter Bericht. Prämisse vom Start weg: die Forderung nach regelmäßigen Gesundheitschecks würde alle Senioren von der Mobilität ausschließen. Ganz langsam pirscht sich der Bericht an die Faktenlage heran: trotz deutlich weniger Personenkilometern verursachen Senioren erstaunlich viele Unfälle.

Dann das Zitat des Fahrlehrers, dass der Nachweis ab einem gewissen Alter ja Altersdiskriminierung sei. Mal abgesehen davon, dass es evidenzbasiert ist, geht es hier ja nicht um einen generellen Entzug sondern um regelmäßige Überprüfung. Der Prostatacheck kommt auch nicht mit 20.

Aber weiter sagt er: Warum müssten Jüngere ihre Eignung nicht nachweisen? Und da hat der Recht! Sollten sie müssen.

Was alle zu vergessen scheinen: Der Lappen heißt "Fahrerlaubnis". Die ist nicht gottgegeben, sondern an Auflagen geknüpft. In Doitschland scheint man das einfach zu verdrängen.

I am still a bit overwhelmed with joy from bringing up the Acontis EtherCAT master stack on my brand new MNT Reform system with LS1028A processor module in just one day. The total experience of working with this system is so pleasant that it is really hard to describe. Lukas Hartmann has really put a lot of effort in polishing and it pays off. I have worked with a lot of evaluation systems in the past, PowerPC, arm, x86. But this is really a different league. @mntmn

Two more things to note before we roll out channel binding:

· It’s not unreasonable to assume that future attacks will use stolen certificates. Therefore 'endpoint' is an inferior channel binding method and servers that have other methods available (unique or exporter) should not be offering 'endpoint' at all to avoid down grade attacks.¹
· Channel binding relies on the password staying secret; Make sure you are not reusing passwords across services.

It’s basically a static site generator for interactive maps. Tile servers are pretty much obsolete now. No database needed, you can run your interactive, smooth-zooming vector map from any HTTP storage. S3, Caddy running on your Wi-Fi router, even GitHub pages.

Liebe Kitas und Kindergärten,
Ursprünglich hatten wir uns vor vielen Jahren diese Aktion für Kitas mit finanziell benachteiligten Kindern ausgedacht und sofort gemerkt, dass die Abgrenzung gar nicht möglich ist. Also haben wir einfach alle eingeladen 😉
Es ist uns eine Herzensangelegenheit, gerade Kindern einen unvergesslichen Tag bei uns zu ermöglichen. Insbesondere denen, die sich den Eintritt ins Wunderland nicht leisten können.
Seit unserer Eröffnung im Jahr 2001 haben nun schon über 22 Millionen große und vor allem auch kleine Gäste das Miniatur Wunderland besucht und die strahlenden Gesichter sind einfach unbezahlbar.
An vielen Terminen haben unsere kleinen Gäste in Begleitung ihrer Kita-ErzieherInnen freien Eintritt in das Miniatur Wunderland! Aufgrund der Erfahrungen der letzten Jahre starten wir schon im November und gehen bis Mitte Januar.
Damit nicht alle Gruppen gleichzeitig zu uns kommen und damit es im Wunderland nicht zu voll wird, ist eine Anmeldung für die Wunderland-Kita-Tage unbedingt erforderlich. Unter https://www.miwula.de/kita können Sie die noch verfügbaren Zeiten einsehen und Ihre Gruppe auch direkt anmelden.
Es sind natürlich ALLE Kitas eingeladen, für die das Wunderland in Reichweite liegt. Ob das für Ihre Einrichtung zutrifft, entscheiden Sie selbst. 😉
