I'm checking out Mastodon because I want to find a social media platform that doesn't have a financial incentive to steer me to content, and that is not filled with flame wars. But I don't really understand how best to navigate the Fediverse to find high-quality content. A lot of people here post links to Twitter, which just lands me back in the cesspool that I'm trying to avoid.
@quest Mastodon is a bit better if you want to have a deep conversation with someone about something.
I have had better conversations here in Mastodon than in Twitter. Just select your tribe (interest group) and it will be better.
Less troll, more genuine content.
@shibaprasad Thanks for responding. I do want quality content and much less trolling! But I'm not sure how to find my tribe, as you put it.
I want to learn so many things, like human languages, computer languages, music theory, and how to be a better person in various ways. But I get frustrated because it's too easy for me to drown in the details, or to get distracted by some clickbait link. Communicating with fellow learners for mutual assistance and support would be helpful.
