Speaking of climate change, how the heck is a mosquito flying around in Northern West Virginia in December??? :eyes_opposite:

@shuttersparks We have them here, too! Seemed strange, after we’ve had so many cold nights already this fall.

@shuttersparks How is it flying? I imagine that it is flapping its wings.

Evolution-wise one might expect that insects and things with short generation periods would fairly quickly evolve to handle changing conditions.

Species with long generations probably take longer - I doubt you will be seeing many elephants flying around northern West Virginia this December.

@karlauerbach Given how I phrased the question I figured if someone would "go there.". Lmao.

There should be no mosquitoes here after mid October at the latest. So far, this is the weirdest fall anyone here has ever seen. We've had several rounds of Santa Ana winds, which is unknown here, but now is a thing. Last night the temperature was 46 when I left work at 11:00 p.m. the temperature then rose to 60 and we had a thunderstorm. Wut?

Normally on this date we are well into the snow and ice season with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.
