@shuttersparks A friend of mine had an 18650 explode in a charger on his desk, it fired up and put a hole in the ceiling! I've been fortunate so far, but I have managed to short one out and had to throw it outside quickly!

@shuttersparks It is always good to remember what something with a lot of chemical energy in a small space is - a bomb waiting to happen.

@vk2gpu Indeed. Under the right circumstances they're little bombs because they can deliver jaw-dropping power levels for short periods.

That 18650 I photographed is rated to deliver 25 amps for short periods. I don't even want to know what the short-circuit current is.
