Same old racial discrimination in Alabama. Note that in 1954 the "South" continued to act like a foreign country, vowing to defy the Supreme Court.
It's the same today. I learned when I lived in the South that the U.S.A. has been Balkanized since 1865. A lot of the people there feel the U.S.A. is an occupying force that invaded "their" country.
