Today on my usual Monday evening national network radio tech segment, I'll be discussing how so many innocent users get locked out of their #Google accounts, often losing all of their email and other data in the process -- due to Google's abysmal account recovery systems, their lack of genuine user support beyond decrepit and largely useless "help forums", and how Google over the years has steadfastly refused to even consider meaningful suggestions to improve the situation.
@lauren Oh, and needless to say, I don't use Google for anything important. My gmail, which goes back ages, is my garbage account. The only Google service I use is Docs because of sharing. The rubes I work with can't handle anything that isn't dirt simple and built into IOS.
@shuttersparks@lauren The G+ disaster has been my wakeup call. I still have an account for YouTube (it is also a gmail emergency account), but eliminated everything else.
About every three months I have to help my mother to recover her account.
