A young friend is going back to school to study programming; I'm not as certain as they are that it's a secure career path, in light of the current mania for misapplication of AI.

If you work in IT & someone in your life who you care about is considering an IT career, are there any specific paths or subfields you'd direct them to?

*Your cynicism does not help me help my friend. Keep your venting to yourself. Thank you for your reading comprehension. 1/n

If you have people in your life in their 20s who you care about, what kinds of career paths (outside of IT) are you recommending to them? What kinds of careers offer a prospect of stability, decent conditions and a living wage in the next 10-15 years?

(I have a number of friends in their 20s and when we talk about school & careers, I'm lost. Even more so if they are marginalized in any way.)

Helpful, non-cynical answers extremely welcome. 2/n
