@guncelawits Me too, although the first six years of my life overlapped with the polio era. So there was that.

@kyivpostal Good. The more, the better. The sooner, the better. Get this overwith.

This adventure didn't go at all as planned for the Russians and they didn't expect the West to support Ukraine as we have. The West is vastly more powerful militarily than Russia and I believe that we will not back down. This leaves Putin with just one option and the sooner he takes it the better as fewer people will die.

There is only one outcome to this saga. The question is how much of Russia must be disabled or destroyed in the process.

@NPR Yes, Saint Augustine's writings themselves are very interesting, cogent in all times, worth reading.

@rbreich I think "all we have to do" is remove the immunity from lawsuits that Congress gave gun makers long ago. The problem is, we need the major gun makers because they supply our military. We can't afford for them to be sued out of existence, hence the immunity.

Not sure how to solve this easily. Maybe the immunity should apply only to gunmakers with government contracts or something.

We're stuck with the Second Amendment until that gets amended (when Hell freezes over) so we're limited in what can be done. But lawsuits are not limited by the Second Amendment.

@opsnlops I don't know what to say. I'm sorry and ashamed that some humans are like this.

My house got vandalized while I was at MFM. I came home to my pride flag missing, and the flag holder sheared off.

I looked on my security cameras, and it was someone in a pickup truck. They came around my driveway, grabbed the flag, and floored it. (You can hear them yelling in the video.)

I gave my footage to the deputies, and yes, we could read a license plate.

I intend to press all of the charges I can. Trans pride flag or not, trespassing and damaging someone's property is a crime. (Plus they stole my flag.)

I'm pretty freaked out because they knew my house well enough to know that I have a circle driveway. My house isn't very visible from the road, and most people have no idea that it's there.

They were smart enough to know about the driveway and carport, but not smart enough to know I have a bunch of 4k security cameras, I guess. 😵‍💫

I'm really shaken up 😢

Civil Eats, one of the best sites out there for food, agriculture and food justice news, just removed their paywall and made their entire site free, for at least one year.

I've had the pleasure of writing for them, and have been a devoted reader for years. If you don't read them yet, go check them out, and if you do, consider donating to keep that paywall down.

@skykiss The good news is that should something happen to Elmo, SpaceX will continue fine, if not better, without him.

If you’re listening to NPR’s hourly newscasts this evening you’ll hear one of radio’s golden voices — my longtime friend and Fukushima meltdown colleague, Doualy Xaykaothao. I just dropped in to the NYC studio to bring her some Virgil’s BBQ.

@rms Yes, things will get real when food and water come up short throughout the world. And it will. For the past 25 years, the Pentagon has seen this coming problem as the biggest threat to global security and stability.

Pentagon war planners (very smart folks) are no longer studying war scenarios against Russia like they used to. They're studying and modeling what's going to happen and how do we react when India runs out of food and water?

@mastodonmigration @randahl in Brazil it’s not the FCC that matters, it’s Anatel and they can really fuck Musk.

from the article “Had Starlink continued to disobey de Moraes by providing(Twitter) access, telecommunications regulator Anatel could eventually have seized equipment from Starlink’s 23 ground stations that ensure the quality of its internet service, Arthur Coimbra, an Anatel board member, said on a video call from his office in Brasilia.”

Via Kyle Griffin:

Team #Harris just announced an almost $25 mil donation to bolster Dems up & down the ballot — the largest transfer ever in a pres cycle, according to the campaign.

The full breakdown:

* $10 million to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

* $10 million to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee

* $2.5 million to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee

* $1 million to the Democratic AGs Association

* $1 million to the Democratic Governors' Association

@GottaLaff
Harris' team is running circles around the GOP. They could come up with a different themed ad targeting Project 2025 every week between now and the election.

And she's sharing her wealth down-ballot - giving 20 million to the DNC to spend on other races...so she plans on governing, not just leading, and to do that she needs to protect the House and Senate.
